Little Giant Grenache was crafted from a combination of older and younger vine Grenache vineyards within Seaview and Willunga. Small 3-5 tonne batches of high quality hand-picked fruit were fermented separately in open top fermenters. Minimal daily plunging ensued to gently build colour and the tannin profile without over extraction before being transferred partially to older oak and the remainder to stainless steel tank for maturation prior to blending and bottling.
2021 Vintage
Yields were down in 2021 due to extreme heat and poor flowering but the quality was excellent across the board. Resourceful use of irrigation helped throughout vintage and later ripening was a bonus ensuring fruit was at optimum when it came to picking. 2020 will be a vintage to enjoy now or cellar in the medium term.
Tasting Note
The Little Giant Grenache just keeps getting better. A wine that is both mouth-filling yet medium weight with ripe fruited intensity. Vital red and dark berry fruit underpinned by hints of chocolate and integrated oak. The palate delivers tight-knit tannins and ensures a lasting flavour of berries, vanilla and freshly ground spices. Perfect with lamb souvlaki and spicy cous cous.
