Oak Select
It is only fitting that the ideal introduction to peated whisky draws from a broad range of casks in the Laphroaig storehouse. Sweet and smooth, Laphroaig Select reflects over two hundred years of passionate distilling in every dram.
To create the Laphroaig Select blend, the Master Distiller hand-selected whiskies matured in Oloroso sherry butts, first-fill ex-Bourbon quarter casks, and Pedro Ximénez sherry hogsheads at varying stages of ageing. The whisky is then finished in virgin American oak barrels – an uncommon wood source for Scotch whisky.
This most laid-back expression allows Laphroaig's signature flavours of medicinal peat smoke and seaweed to shine, while leaving ample space for notes of red fruit, lime, and a floral finish.
Tasting Notes
Colour: A sparkling gold with layers of colour.
Nose: Peat first, then ripe red fruits with a hint of dryness.
Palate: Sweet at first, followed by peat smoke and dashes of ash and seaweed.
Finish: Long lingering and florally with marzipan and limes at the end.
