Our estate was founded in 1804. It was rebuilt and managed at the end of the 19th century by our great-grandfather, Hippolyte Painturaud, after the big phylloxera crisis. Then in 1934, Guy Painturaud, our grandfather, decided to sell his cognac and Pineau des Charentes under his own name to differentiate himself from all the big Cognac merchants. As a result, our company Maison Painturaud Frères was born. Guy Painturaud was one of the first winegrowers to sell Pineau des Charentes. His son Jacques, our father, took over in 1973 : Jacques grew the business by taking part in numerous national wine and spirit fairs and starting a shop in Segonzac.”
